Roles and Responsibilities

Principal Investigator or Laboratory Supervisor

  • Register space and potential hazards (implied licensure)
  • Appoint an EHS rep or function as their own EHS rep
  • Submit Supervisor's Injury Report within 24 hours when necessary
  • Complete Training Needs Assessment and all required training courses
  • Perform weekly inspections of SAAs or appoint someone from lab to perform this function

EHS Representative

  • Complete Training Needs Assessment and all required training courses
  • Provide lab specific safety training to lab members
  • Disseminate EHS information to lab personnel
  • Perform weekly Level I inspections of laboratory
  • Attend meetings arranged by AeroAstro EHS coordinator

All Employees, Staff, Students

  • Complete Training Needs Assessment and all required training courses
  • Understand the hazards present in the lab, standard operating procedures and required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Report injuries, near misses, unsafe acts or unsafe conditions to PI, EHS Representative or EHS Coordinators
